Lyne Lucien  is an award-winning Haitian artist based in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Bowdoin College. Before working as a full time artist, Lyne has held positions as a photo editor, art director, and creative producer for various publications and brands. Her work is rooted in community. She draws details from her vibrant upbringing in Haiti to create the bold spaces and themes in her work. Her illustrations were published in various publications from New York Magazine to NPR to The Atlantic to CJR. 

In 2021, Lyne wrote and illustrated a story on Haitian Soup Joumou for NYMag that was used in the bid which Unesco awarded the soup protected cultural heritage status. That year she also illustrated the 2021 NYC Summerstage Campaign and exhibited her work at the Art x Ayiti/ Hope for Haiti gallery.

In 2022, Kip Republic selected her to be their resident artist for the Free Heri Heri for All Campaign, for which she created the national black emancipation art that was displayed all over the Netherlands! Her work appeared all over the country on billboards, posters, pamphlets, at most major museums such at the Tropenmuseum, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam Museum / Hermitage, Het Scheepvaartmuseum.  In addition, She was a keynote speaker at the esteemed Stedelijk Museum for that event. That year, she also illustrated an original piece for the Dupage Children's Museum in Chicago.

In 2023, Walmart selected Lyne as a Black and Unlimited artist and was featured in their national commercial. She was also featured on BET’s docu-style series, The Next Wave of Black History.  It highlights, “the next wave of Black entrepreneurs & artists making their mark in the future history books.” This year, she presented her work at the BET Her awards and created an original poster for Colson Whitehead’s book, Crook Manifesto.

The overwhelming response to her 2023 Mama Cax google doodle catapulted a national press tour with several news channels all over the country covering the art and interviewing her on live tv. Lyne has guest lectured at several academic and art institutions including University of Hartford Art School, Stedelijk Museum, Princeton University, and Bowdoin College. 

In the past, Lyne has created the official Black History month art for Google, Tripadvisor, Facebook, AARP and Readerly. She’s also created work for selected clients ranging from The Today show, Hulu, AARP, to Penguin Randomhouse. She's had national campaigns with Lifewater, Facebook and Porsche. Her covers include, While Entertaining, Bowdoin College, Nobles, Available Zine, and Billboard. 

Lyne has won awards with Society of Illustrators 64, American Illustration 40/41 Award, Applied Arts, World Illustration Award, and Communication Arts-longlist. Lyne was also a finalist for the Artbridge - Not a Monolith Residency.
